Our History
The firm of Waddell & Mackintosh was inaugurated in the year 1893 and the firm has a proud history
of serving the citizens of Troon, and beyond, for over 125 years. The senior partners since the
firm opened in 1893 have been: Peter Hugh Waddell, Ian McLeish Mackintosh, Thomas Montgomery Brown,
John Muir Mason and our current senior partner Rognvald Mason.
Peter Hugh Waddell moved into the present premises at 36 West Portland Street, Troon around 1920, after purchasing the building from Hector Cowan who ran a Public House from the building. The Title Deeds show Hector Cowan as the first owner of the property from 1861 until Waddell & Mackintosh took over the property.
Waddell & Mackintosh is a great institution in the local area but are also happy to carry out work all over Scotland inclusive of dealings in Orkney (where Rognvald’s family originate from) down to Dumfries and Galloway (where the late John Muir Mason was brought up).
In terms of links to the local community, Waddell & Mackintosh are proud sponsors of numerous local organisations, some of which include: Marr Rugby Club, based at Fortress Fullarton; The Campaign for Real Ale (Ayrshire branch), held annually at the local town hall; Ayrshire Golf Festival, held annually at the local community golf courses; Ayrshire Music Festival and The Rotary Club, together with many others.
Waddell & Mackintosh has a community ethic at its heart trying to serve the community as best it can for the benefit of the local area and it’s residents.
Waddell & Mackintosh now trades as a limited company. The Directors are Rognvald Mason and Darren Murdoch. Darren Murdoch presently holds the office of President of the Scottish Law Agents Society. W&M also has Andrew Stevenson & Zoe Samaras as solicitors. The experienced team offer a wide range of legal and property services all regulated by the Law Society of Scotland. The Firm also has an Estate Agency Department headed by Angelika Wilson at the Ayr Street office.
As the years go by pride in the firm is maintained by all at Waddell & Mackintosh, and we sincerely hope to continue to be of service, for a further 125 years and beyond.
We offer a broad range of legal and property services, all regulated by The Law Society of Scotland.
